Nipper's Authentic "CHICAGO STYLE"  GOURMET  hot dogs
All Vienna Beef franks and sausages are made from original family recipes dating back to 1893.
The meat Vienna uses inside our sausages is 100% domestic beef from top round & tenderloin cuts with no fillers,
artificial colors or flavorings. Vienna's time-honored blend of seasonings and old-fashioned hickory smoking
give all of our franks and sausages that unique, genuine Vienna flavor that folks crave.

Vienna Beef manufactures both skinless and natural casing sausages.
Skinless sausages are cooked in an artificial casing which is removed during the production process.

CUSTOMER COMMENTS

"Just got two Chicago dogs (mustard, hot peppers, dill pickles, onions, relish, tomatoes, and seasoned salt) on poppy seed buns and I have to say they were frickin’ awesome. I always considered myself a die-hard New Yorker (Sabrett w/red onions and deli mustard with a potato knish on the side), but these were a real treat. I only wish I didn’t learn about this hot dog stand so late in the Summer. I will be back next week for sure!"

The Nipper Dog did leave a lasting impression on me, and it's not just the onions talking either. You take a hot juicy fatty beef dog and you combine it with what could be described as an austere salad. It's a similar school of thought to Pittsburgh style sandwiches.

I'm glad I could be there to help welcome Nippers to Albany.

"I just got back from their stand across from the L.O.B. and I was impressed. Actually, that's an understatement. The ingredients are extremely fresh, the taste was out of this world, and the owner was extremely polite and a pleasure to talk to. I'll definitely be going back on my lunch breaks for some more of this tasty goodness".

"OK, I stopped up, but honestly it was so cold and windy that I didn't feel like chatting. The Big Nipper is the best deal in town though, do this again on a nicer day!"

I've been waiting for this for a long time, and I must say, it rocked!

Great food and great service! I'm so happy they've relocated to the Capitol."

"I didn't have anything like that in NYC this weekend, so I'm all over those on Monday! Yay for venders opening again. We've been waiting so long!!"

"I always swore by Sabretts with red onion sauce and brown mustard and never thought I would say that another style was better, but Nipper’s won me over. I do still prefer a natural casing dog for the “pop”, but a Chicago dog is practically a meal in itself. Taken as a whole (poppy seed roll), sport peppers, neon green relish, tomato, pickle, mustard, celery salt), I prefer the Chicago dog, but I definitely still prefer the natural skin casing dogs (taken on their own)."

"I became a Chicago style hot dog convert last year and can’t pass through Midway without getting one or two. Its become kind of an addiction. Nipper’s puts out a very authentic Chicago dog (they actually use the same brand ingredients as the ones you get in IL.)

Having two places to get my fill of tube steak within driving distance of work isn’t bad, its the wurst. (Pardon the bad pun, but I just had to do that)."

"For me, Hot Dogs taste the best in the “Da Bronx” on a summer day while catching a game, but I am definitely going to run up to the Capitol and grab a dog from Nipper."

"Bob, Walt,
"You've really put Nipper's Hot Dogs on the NY state map. Keep up the great work. I'll be at the Vienna Beef plant on Tuesday, September 23rd and attempt to meet with Jim Bodman, CEO.

If so, I'll be sure he's fully aware of what a great business you've created.Take care,"

“Arguably the best traditional hot dog in the U.S. is made by Vienna Beef.” I will agree with that wholeheartedly. This is the best news I’ve heard in a long time. Jim

"These were truly the best hotdogs we have ever tried! We go back 3 times a week and is just not enough. Good luck Nippers.
PS: after eating your hotdogs all of our wildest dreams came true."

"Wow... my wife and I used to enjoy Chicago Red Hots at a small stand when we lived in the Boston area, and we figured we wouldn't be able to get them around here." James

"Although we live in Troy, we are not normally around during the day. We had the day off and errands to run; with a short time for lunch, I suggested Nippers. We'd never had Chicago style hot dogs before - they were very good! And we enjoyed our visit with Bob. Good luck next season. And yes, one per person is PLENTY! My husband says to order two at your own peril."

Wendy                                          ~
"Bob and Walter learned the "art of the cart" at Hot Dog University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And it seems like they were diligent students, because the hot dogs we had yesterday were pretty darn good. And at two for five bucks, they're a great deal. (Bring a friend... one is enough for each person.)"

Nipperette's Nancy & Carol

For over 100 years, Vienna Beef has been the taste of Chicago’s festivals and family gatherings.  Whether eaten with the crowd in the parking lot at one of our sporting events, or gathered around the backyard table with neighbors, if it isn’t Vienna, it isn’t really Chicago.  Ask a Chicago ex-pat what they miss, and they’re unlikely to mention the weather or the expressway construction, but one and all will wistfully tell you that Vienna products haunt their dreams.  Parents in other cities send their college students care packages full of cookies and socks, but Chicago parents ship out cases of dogs and condiments - they know what means home to their far away fledglings.  It doesn’t matter whether you are a native Chicagoan whose first solid food was morsels of a Vienna dog, a visitor who passed through once upon a time and has never forgotten the flavor, or a Chicago-neophyte who is wondering what on earth all the fuss is about.  We’ve got what you need, what you crave.  We’ll send you Chicago.

The "Chicago Style" hot dog got its start from street cart hot dog vendors during the hard times of the Great Depression. Money was scarce, but business was booming for these entrepreneurs who offered a delicious hot meal on a bun for only a nickel. The famous Chicago Style Hot Dog was born! They'd start with a Vienna Beef hot dog, nestle it in a steamed poppyseed bun and cover it with a wonderful combination of toppings: yellow mustard, bright green relish, fresh chopped onions, juicy red tomato wedges, a kosher-style pickle spear, a couple of spicy sport peppers and finally, a dash of celery salt. This unique hot dog creation with a "salad on top" and its memorable interplay of hot and cold, crisp and soft, sharp and smooth, became America's original fast food and a true Chicago institution.
